Taxis and island tours work perfectly well instead, and Nevis is a single ring road you can drive in under an hour. The rest of the budget goes on water and guides: catamaran days, snorkelling, and the climb up Nevis Peak, which is steep, slippery and rope-assisted in places, takes most of a day and ends in cloud more often than not, so take a local guide. Season here runs on two calendars. The dry winter and spring months are the most reliable and the busiest, and Saint Kitts holds its carnival around the turn of the year, which fills rooms across both islands. Late summer and autumn are cheaper but sit inside the Atlantic hurricane season, when weather can disrupt the crossing itself as well as the beach days. Personally, I would book the arrival on Saint Kitts and the rest of the nights on Nevis, because the bigger island has the easier flights and the greater sights, while Nevis is where the trip changes gear: a plantation inn, an empty beach, and a peak that decides for itself when it will show its summit.
